Sleepy
Wonder - Injustice
(No Choice Music/Bug Music)
Sleepy Wonder's latest
album 'INJUSTICE' set for release on April
21st, 2009 was worth waiting for. Sleepy shows
incredible versatility as he fuses music genres such as
Reggae, House, Garage,
Dancehall, Dub, Electronica, Lounge, Reggaeton, R & B, and
Hip Hop. Tracks that stand out are: the first track on
the album 'March Up In the Hills' which definitely
has a Mikal Rose flavor (conscious listeners will appreciate
Sleepy taking them up in the hills. Track 3 'The
World Is In Trouble' takes you back to the 80's with its
infusion of House/Garage music, the lyrics are tight and has
you moving constantly. Track 4 is the album's title
track 'Injustice' featuring Bobo Dred and is a
poignant song that deals with the fact that our sons are
being killed every day and the struggle we face to overcome
injustice in the world. Track 5 a remake of 'DJ
Business' reminds you of where Sleepy Wonder is coming
from and why he won DJ of the Year in 1988! On track 6
'We Riding' he teams up with singer Brandi on a cool
R&B vibe with which listeners will love. Hip-Hop
lovers will appreciate Track 9 'Can't Do Mi Nothing'
which features upcoming artist Jiggy and tells the tale of
thug wannabe's making the wrong decision to mess with real
bad man.
All in all there are 12 tracks and the album is a winner,
Sleepy Wonder exhibits his rapid fire lyrics throughout the
album and stays true to his Jamaican roots even as he blends
the music that has influenced him outside of Jamaica over
the past 20 years.
April 21st, 2009 'Injustice' will be available as a
Digital release online and also through all major phone
carriers.
