Club
Hibiscus In Ft. Lauderdale - Party Time Before The 6th Annual
Caribbean Reggae Fest, Nov. 16th 2003
Story & Pictures By
Lady Cham

On Saturday night I had the opportunity to
call into the Tonto Irie & Lady English radio show which is a
wonderful show on Hot 105 in Miami every Saturday from 10pm
-1am, we discussed the upcoming event and thanked all of those
who had traveled from near and far to attend the Reggae Fest.
After the radio show finished it was time to leave the hotel
and head to Ft. Lauderdale, Fl to check out the party scene!
We heard that this was to be a hot night as many
out-of-towners would be in the club so of course we couldn’t
resist!
It
turned out that the club is run by Florida’s 93.5fm
management, Bobby Spendas and there was a ‘Construction Party’
that night promoted by Dexi Killer.

Thanks
to Jason ‘Sky High’ from 93.5 in Miami who had the hook up at
Club Hibiscus so myself, Yvette Fils-Aime who traveled to
Florida with me, and a few ladies we met on the airplane who
were also from VA traveling down to the show had a wonderful
time in the club.

A
host of wicked DJ’s including ‘Mr. Hype’ New York's Richie
Pooh kept the dance hopping. The patrons were not camera shy
so I had a ball taking pictures that night (it helped that the
DJ’s kept announcing that Lady Cham of
www.westindiantimes.net
was taking pictures). Everything was perfect, the
music & atmosphere was ‘dancehall madness’ at it’s finest and
the people were very welcoming, I must give a huge big up to
security especially ‘Love!’

After we came
out of the dance after 4pm we were famished and joy of joys it
was like being in Jamaica, we smelt the wonderful scent of
jerk chicken!!
In
the parking lot of the Hibiscus nightclub was a huge drum pan
full of chicken being jerked by Ian of Chicken Links, the drum
pan was set high on the back of a truck and there was a line
for the mouthwatering food! It was the most delicious jerk
chicken and hardough bread I had eaten in a long time!
