SELECTOR RICHIE POOH SHOWERS VA WITH NUFF HYPE!

Promoter Kidd Walker of Lionheart Promotions brought The 'Hype Man' Richie Pooh to perform at Club Garry's in Virginia on Tuesday, January 20th and while in VA Richie visited the studios of Vibes 24/7 to speak to West Indian Times about his style of selecting, his goals and aspirations and also set the record straight about the whereabouts of his cousin Beenie Man.  

Richie Pooh is based in New York and prefers to be known as a solo selector rather than a DJ.  Many people wonder how Richie Pooh can go into a dance and keep the crowd jumping for hours he credits it to being hungry.  He says that over the years he watched other selectors and some of them could not move him in the dance so he would analyze what they were missing and learn from  their mistakes. 

Before heading to Club Garry's Richie insisted that we be there,  he assured us that whatever he told the crowd to do they would do so we made sure we were there to witness his performance. 

Inside Club Garry's Richie Pooh gave command after command and the patrons followed, whatever moves he demonstrated or called out for them to do, they did!  It was none stop and with his speeches he grasped their attention the whole night.  He was extraordinarily hype and it was amazing to watch Richie spin music and dance at the same time, he never missed a beat.  The vibes in the dance were wicked and it all stemmed from the selector. 

I asked Richie Pooh if he thought that in 25 years he would still be selecting and doing the latest moves and he said he would most definitely still be selecting but he would also own a sound system, hire other selectors and he would be producing.  As far as doing the hype dances in 25 years, he could not say for sure but he did say that even Michael Jordan had to retire!

Most people do not realize it but Richie is Beenie Man's cousin and he spoke to West Indian Times about the rumors flying around regarding Beenie Man being in Florida.  Richie confirmed that Beenie Man is in a private institute in Jamaica and that he has a specialist working with his lungs.  Richie stated that Beenie Man does not have a broken nose nor a broken wrist but suffered a punctured lung and cuts & bruises.  He credits the Almighty and the Hummer Beenie was driving for saving Beenie's life.

Richie Pooh came to Virginia and demonstrated the skills a true selector possesses, he kept the hype going all night, enticing the patrons to move to his every directive and many of them told West Indian Times that they would gladly welcome him back to VA!!
